What Causes Dark Coloured Stool After Delivery?
Question: I have just had a baby 11 days ago and I have black poo I had this while I was pregnant is this normal during and after?
It can be a normal findings during pregnancy, but after birth it should be change to normal. Stool examination will be helpful - as black XXXXXXX can be any blood containing should be ruled, other thing is if you are on any medication - this symptoms does gives. get an appointment with your GP to get investigated further. I have been put on iron tablets before and after birth also antibiotics and claxane due to having a section could this be a reason or do I need to see my doctor urgently?

1.The reason for the black stools is most possibly due to the iron tablets - iron tablets. ( it is seen in almost every cases)
2.In some cases antibiotics does give the changes in the stool colour and consistency.
