What Causes Dark Spots Near Genital Area?

Question: I have these dark spots that appear near my genital area that dont itch or anything, and they have appeared near my stomach as well, Id like to know what these may be, I havent had sex before and I am 18 and a male.

Ive had them for a bit and I think they may be fungal infection, I was told by a few friends they have them too so I looked a bit and found its common in teens or young adults. I sweat a lot due to work, they rarely ever increase in number, and I noticed them within past 2 years.

Hi dear.Thanks for sharing the information.

I am glad you are aware of the fungal infection.As per your description I would make a provisional diagnosis of Tinea(fungus/yeast) infection of the groin region.In a few individuals as in yours, itching is absent.

Excess sweat predisposes the growth of fungus on your skin.Keep the affected area dry.

Fungus remains on your skin if it is untreated for long duration.I would advise anti-fungal medications (fluconazole)- tablet , ointment(night) and dusting powder(day) for local application for atleast 2-4 weeks.Since these medications are available only on prescription I would suggest to consult a dermatologist at the earliest.
