Question : I'm one month out of a colon resection from colon cancer . I'm having dark stools with blood in it . Is this common?
Brief Answer:
No, this is not common.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
If you have no stoma and the tumor was removed, this is not normal thing. You may have bleeding from intestinal junction.
I suggest you to visit your surgeon, have blood work done (to see hemoglobin level) and have colonoscopy done.
If you have upper middle abdominal pain, peptic ulcer should be also considered. In such case, gastroscopy is necessary.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
