What Causes Dark Yellow Discoloration On A Wound?
Question: Hi, got a hard dark yellow crust on a graze wound. Wound was desinfected and taped immediatley after it happened. No smell, no liquid. The wound is 3 days old and was disinfected and bandaged with a gaze - should i scrub the crust off and aply a antibiotic cream ( recommend by nurse here - or try another doctor , or not worry at all )
Brief Answer:
Please leave the wound alone. It looks good.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
The wound is clean. It looks really good and is healing well. The best you can do, is to leave it alone. Removing scab and applying antibiotic would be a mistake.
You may even not cover it at home.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Thanks for getting back to me - i went to visit a pharmacy to pick up some tooth paste and fhe nurse / doctor on duty freaked me out. Usually it doesnt bother me as this is quiet normal here in Indonesia. They see foreigners often as a cash cow and got me to buy some antibiotic cream and other stuff.
Should I cover up before going to work ? I work as a Executive Chef ( more office based than cooking ) and wear loose fitting chef jacket. Or no need ?

Brief Answer:
You should cover it when at work.
Detailed Answer:
Well, it would be better to cover it when you go to work.
Generally wounds heal without any help. Thats how nature works. And there is no need to rush the nature or interrupt this process. So just ignore the nurse and leave the wound as it is. Its really looks fine.
