What Causes Decreased Urine Output And Swelling In Leg?

Question: Hi I was recently started on Hydralazine 200mg daily along with my losartan/hydrochorthaide100/12.
My urinary output has decreased and I have left side swelling of my leg. What is going on?

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this decreased urine output. This is rather paradoxical as you are being given drugs which should rather increase your urine output. My first though is that you might nit be drinking enough as to produce much urine. I will strongly recommend that you increase your fluids intake to at least 1.5liters daily. Also, collect all urine volume and report during this interval so that can also evaluate to see whether this is normal or not. If this points to it being for real decreased and so low that it is considered abnormal, I will suggest that a nephrologist looks into it.
