What Causes Dehydration, Diarrhea And Vomiting When Diagnosed With Hyponatremia?

What might cause low sodium? What are the symptoms of it? I'm scheduled to have a cataract removed in 2 days; will low sodium be problematic for this procedure?
Inadequate intake and diuretics are the most common causes!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about your symptoms and the finding of low sodium. Most common causes are dehydration, drinking too much water, diarrhea and vomiting, medications, etc. Unless this stays same over several different blood measures, I will not be so bothered as there are several instances where we report transient changes in sodium levels.
This will certainly be normalized before surgery. There is no reason to be worried about. I think dehydration/vomiting and loose stools explain your low sodium values. If you are on any other medications, kindly communicate to me for review.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
