What Causes Delay In Crawling In Infants?

Development appears to be normal for age,Vit D supplementation is needed
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr Mir
Development of an infant should be assessed under multiple domains like Gross motor development, fine motor development,social/cognitive development and language/speech development.
You have mentioned that your son is turning(roll over) but not crawling.
Turning or crawling comes under gross motor development.
Till age of 8 months an infant should achieve following developmental milestones
1)Gross motor- Roll over and sitting without support
2)Fine motor-Use of entire hand to catch/hold an object(palmar grasp)
3)Social - Starts recognizing stranger and get anxious in presence of strangers(Stranger's anxiety)
4) Language- Says ba,da,ga(Monosyllables)
Your son has started rolling over, this shows that he has achieved the milestones of 6-7 months of age.Crawling starts usually at 9 months of age.
Development is a sequential process and it relates to the maturity of nervous system. Although some vitamin deficiency can affect body growth but infant's development is not much related to vitamin intake.
Till one year of age all breast fed infant should be supplemented with Vitamin D drops 400 u/day.Other vitamins are not needed to supplement unless there is deficiency of specific vitamin.
So as per motor milestone you need not to worry and give vitamin D drop till one year of age.
I will be glad to answer if you have any further queries.

you are right
Detailed Answer:
Hello
It is better to assess the development of an infant over a period of time rather than at a point of time. The time to achieve a specific milestone may vary according to individual infant. Few infant can sit without support at the age of 8 months and some may need support.
For this there are red flag signs(A time at which if particular milestone has not achieved,it should be investigated).Red flag sign for 9 month of age is unable to sit without support.
You can wait till nine months of age to see whether he is able to sit without support/starts crawling or not.
I hope this answers your query. If you are satisfied and there is no further query, please close the discussion and give your valuable feedback.
