What Causes Delay In Menstrual Bleeding While On Primolut N?

Question: Hi, i took promolut n to delay my periods as i am travelling. I started the pill thrice a day on d day my date was due. I am experiencing mild intermittent bleeding and lower abdomen pain. Is it normal and will this go away? Should I continue the tablet? Hope will not start actual periods?
Brief Answer:
Dose should be increased
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.
Primolut should be started 4-5 days prior to the expected periods and should be continued till you want to delay the periods.
This tablet started on the day of the periods is unlikely to stop or delay the periods. The intermittent bleeding, spotting and pain abdomen is due to the impending periods.
The periods are likely to start in 2-3 days inspite of taking the medication.
You can take higher dose of primolut three tablets a day to stop the periods.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
