The rise in temperature occurs a day after ovulation.
Detailed Answer:
Hi Miss XXXXX,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
Even if you had regular cycles before, Ovulation can sometimes be delayed and this is normal.
After ovulation the corpus luteum produces progesterone which is responsible for the rise in basal body temperature. This rise in temperature starts a day after the ovulation has occurred . You do not see the rise on the day of ovulation. So don't worry. The usual rise in temperature is 0.4 degrees Fahrenheit. Sometimes it can be less than that and this is normal too. What is important is to see two patterns of temperature. Low temperatures before ovulation and high temperatures after ovulation. The temperature rise after ovulation remains sustained.
Basal body temperature states when ovulation occurred. It does not say about the quality of the egg.
It also cannot predict the possibility of miscarriage or congenital anomalies.
I hope this helps.
