What Causes Delay In Periods Despite Having I Pill Post Unprotected Sex?

Question: Hi I had sex on the 5th of December. He took out much before ejaculating and I had an ipill after 5 hours. After having the ipill we had sex again an he again pulled it out much before cuming. I cleaned and peed straight away. I had to get my period on the 15th of December and today it's 18th I haven't got it yet. I'm having little brown discharge and pain in lower abdomen. Rest I am totally fine. Please tell if there is any chance of getting pregnant. Thanks in anticipation

I understand your concern.

I pill also causes menstrual irregularity like delayed periods, inter menstrual spotting. So delay in periods can be due to that.

I pill reduces the chance of pregnancy by 89% if taken within 72 hrs of unprotected intercourse. So for confirmation that you are not pregnant get a urine pregnancy test with early morning urine sample.
If pregnancy test is negative, wait for a week for spontaneous onset of periods. If still no periods, you can take progesterone tablet to get withdrawal bleeding.

And what about the brown discharge that I'm getting? Is it because of ipill or what?I have been feeling in intervals as if I will get down but I'm not.

Hi Doc,

As already mentioned above I had my last period on 15th November and had an ipill on 5th of December. So basically my period was due on 15th of December. My cycle is 28-32 days. Further as advised by you I took a hpt which was negative on 19 th of December but I still haven't got my period. Can you advice as to what do I need to do now
And is there any chance of pregnancy now? Further I you could just calculate and tell me whether the test has been taken up at the right time as per relevant dates

Hi doc

I took the test with morning urine and it came out negative. But still haven't got my periods. It's been 10 days. I want to know if it's safe to take progesterone tablet? Does it have any side effects and will it effect my cycle?
