What Causes Delayed Menstruation After Bilateral Tubal Ligation?

Question: had bilateral tubal ligation using the clips in oct 2009 i have had regular cycles but now was 2 weeks late and was very short and light what could be causing this?
Brief Answer:
check pregnancy test/hormonal shifts
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It is very rare but occasionally a tubal ligation will fail so make sure and check a pregnancy test just to be sure that you are not pregnant.
Most likely the change in your periods has to do with hormonal shifts, stress or other factors. Occasionally thyroid changes can cause irregular periods.
Many things can cause some shift in your periods but most of them are not serious and are very temporary. If you are not pregnant and your cycles do not get back to normal in the next 2-3 months then see your doctor for an exam and some blood tests including a thyroid test.
Try not to worry this happens frequently to many women.
