What Causes Delayed Menstruation After Taking I-pill?

Question: I was down with UTI and finised my 5 days antibiotic. 4 days after that we made love and protection broke and i took an IPILL with in 1hour. My cycles are regular but this time i have not got my periods and it has been 15days am i preganant? should a take a test?

Thanks for the query to hcm,
Ideally after taking the ipill , menses should start within next 7-10 days and as you have not received your menses even after 15 days now, it is better to get a serum beta hcg test done to rule out pregnancy first. If the test is negative then you can safely wait for your menses to start naturally in next week or so.

Hi doc

I just took a home pregnancy test with the first sample of urine and found 2 strips one faint at T and one dark purple line at C. I am guessing it's positive. However we are not prepared to have this kid. What is the procedure for termination? I as m surprised ipill did not work even after taking within 30min and I have not had sex post that.

Please suggest

It is suggested that as the test is faintly positive as of now,it would be better if you can repeat the test again after 48 hrs to reconfirm. Then if positive still ,you would have to get a transvaginal ultrasound done to locate intrauterine pregnancy and once confirmed then oral medications can be advised for termination of pregnancy.
