What Causes Delayed Menstruation And Negative Pregnancy Test?
I have recently come off the contraceptive pill and my partner and i are trying for a baby. Since coming off the pill my periods have been coming fairly regularly. This month i used a clear blue advanced ovulation test and it said my peak fertility days were the 21st and 22nd of December. I was expecting my period to arrive the first week of January but it still has not. Home pregnancy test is negative.
Would it be normal to still be waiting for your period nearly 20+ days after ovulation? Does coming off the pill effect the result that home ovulation tests give you?
Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.
Can be post pill amenorrhea.

Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
After coming off the pill your next period may be delayed by a few days. Taking pills does not affect the results of the ovulation kit. It is best to wait for your periods for one more week and after that test your urine again for pregnancy in case the periods do not start. You may need hormonal tablets for a withdrawal bleeding.
It can take 2-3 cycles for your normal ovulation and cyclic periods to return back to normal after stopping the pills.

Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Post pill amenorrhea can happen even if there was an ovulation. The period can be delayed or very light. You can wait for a week more and if the period dos not start then do consult a gynecologist.
If the period doesn't begin then your normal ovulation will not start and there may be a delay in conception.
Hope my answer is helpful.
