What Causes Delayed Menstruation, Brown Discharge And Cramps?
Question: Hi my girlfriend is experiencing some abnormal symptoms during her period. She was 5 to 6 days late to her period, on her first day she had severe cramps but she had only brown discharge, the next day morning she had a heavy period like she changed up to 5 pads (she had bright red color like a normal period). On the 3rd she got very light bleeding. On 4th and 5th day now she s getting some brown mucus discharge. We were not sexually active she s still a virgin. The previous month she was put in to lot of physical and mental stress due to heavy work load in the office due to that she skipped her foods some time. She recently joined yoga class which totally changed her daily schedule. She normally used to have periods for 7 days with severe cramps, to avoid the pain she used to take pain killer but for past three months she has stopped using it. Please let know what would be the reason for this abnormal period. Is this is a normal one or we should consult a doctor?

Stress, change in the routine like yoga can cause changes in the menstrual periods..If she gets her period every 26-35 days, then dont worry.. Menstrual pain decreases in due course of time as age increses ..
I would suggest to continue yoga.. This will help to decrease her stress and tension.. This will regulate her mensus..
No treatment is required now as she already got her periods though bit late than usual.. If the period length goes beyond 35 days, then only treatment is required..

Really Thanks for your timely response. We were confused because she was facing this kind of abnormal periods for the first time. Is that we should worry about the brown mucus discharge. Can you give some diet and tips, so that she can have her normal period next month. Your reply was really helpful.
