What Causes Delayed Period With Negative UPT?

default
Posted on Tue, 30 Dec 2014
Question: Hi, I am currently 9 days late on my period, l have been pretty regular up to this point. I had unprotected sex on November 9th but I am still getting negative home pregnancy test & haven't had any pregnancy symptoms . I have been overly stressed recently. Should I have a blood test done? Or is it simply just stress & I need to give it some time?

Brief Answer:
You are not pregnant.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
If the urine pregnancy tests are negative at 9 days overdue then you are not pregnant. The delay in periods is likely to be due to stress and anxiety. There is no need to go for a blood test right now. You can wait for a week more and in case the periods still do not come then get the hormonal tablets prescribed for a withdrawal bleeding.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
