Brief Answer:
HYDROXYZINE IS NOT HARMFUL TO FETUS.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

HYDROXYZINE is a first-generation anti-histamine drug & belongs to Pregnancy Category A which means that adequate and well-controlled human studies have FAILED to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in the first trimester of pregnancy. However, you should STOP the medicine if you want to continue this pregnancy (if positively detected).

Besides pregnancy, missed period may be due to hormonal imbalance, PCOD/ ovarian cyst, mental stress, emotional upset, irregular diet habit, high prolactin level, over weight/ extreme loss, pelvic infection, thyroid disturbance etc. In that case, complete hormonal profile is required to pinpoint the diagnosis.

At this stage, I suggest you to undergo one blood test for beta-hCG to rule out pregnancy. It is more reliable than home pregnancy test.

One Trans Vaginal Ultrasound scan (TVS) will be worthwhile to exclude pelvic pathology (like Ovarian cyst/ PCOD etc), related to missed period. It will also help to determine current status of pregnancy including fetal well being.

Kindly, consult with your Gynecologist or OBGYN following blood test. You should start taking folic acid and vitamin supplements. You should take healthy diet and avoid mental stress.

Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.

Wish your good health and take care yourself.

Regards,
Dr Soumen
