What Causes Delayed Periods?

Question: Hello dr. I am tensed as period stil not came, as before it always on time. Last period was on 2nd aug. Had relationship on 28th aug . pregnancy test came negative on 6th. Alrdy 7 days passed. Stil today period not came. Help me

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
Please do not take stress because chances of pregnancy are very less in your case.
Please wait for 3-4 days.
If period will not resume then go and consult your gynaecologist and get your pelvic ultrasound done to see the endometrium thickness.
As your pregnancy test is negative and with your discription chances of pregnancy are very very less.
In my opinion if period will not resume then may be you need medication for withdrawal bleeding.

Thanks for your brif answer doctor,
So is it normal thing that period get dealy that much? As i alwas get on time hardly one day dealy was there.

Yes! It can be normal.

Yes! it can be normal sometimes.
Period may very from 28 - 40 days that is consider normal.
If it happened in one or two months time then it consider normal variation in period cycle.
But if occurs frequently then you should see for other causes like hormonal disturbances, PCOD, stress, thyroid etc.

Now its 8 days.stil not period came.. Pils coming for make period sooner is good to take or not? And Can you tell me liitle about pelvic ultrasound?

Please do not take so much stress.
Please wait for 2-3 days more.
No you should not take tablet without pelvic ultrasound.( at least first we should see the cause).
Pelvic ultrasound is the scan of the pelvis to visualised the uterus, ovaries, Fallopian tubes and urinary bladder.
It can be transabdominal or transvaginal.
It is a very safe investigation.
Based on high frequency ultrasonic waves principle.
