What Causes Dent On Skull After A Head Injury?
Question: Hello-
I was dancing with friends three and a half weeks ago--they claim they were twirling me around and I fell onto a hard end table-hitting my head-of which I have no recollection. I woke up the next morning and gradually became very bruised--including a black eye. I have symptoms which come and go-fatigue-dizziness-brain fogginess. I just noticed this week -I have a dent in skull-which my hair covers.I am wondering if I should seek medical advice-Iam a 56 year old -otherwise exceptionallyhealthy female.

Brief Answer:
Clinical assessment and CT scan required
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.
Bruising around the eye or black eye is due to injury and rupture of blood vessels and accumulation of blood around the eye.
This is superficial injury, however, more serious injuries have to be ruled out after head injury.
Rupture of blood vessels around the brain tissue are the most dreaded complications which should be ruled out.
Thus, a CT scan should be done to rule out any hemorrhage in the brain blood vessels.
Consult your primary healthcare provider fo clinical assessment and CT scan.
Thanks and take care

As I do not currently have a primary provider--would you suggest going to an urgent care or the emergency room? Also-is there any danger in waiting a couple of days as I have company from out of town for the holidays?
Thank you
Thank you
Brief Answer:
Yes, you can wait for couple of days
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome again,
Yes, you can wait for couple of days.
The situation seems to be good since you are feeling good.
However, a CT scan will rule out any complication caused by the fall.
Head injuries lead to vascular injury in the brain vessels which may not be apparent immediately.
But do not worry, this is just a preventive measure.
Thanks and take care
