What Causes Diarrhea During 20 Weeks Pregnancy?
Question: Hello Doctor,
I am 20 weeks 5 days pregnant and got my anomaly scan yesterday, where everything came out normal. However, since last 3 days I am having watery stool , but only once in a day in the morning. I have little leg cramps but not feeling weak or anything. My OB is not around and on googling, really got scared when I came to know that diarrhea could be a sign of preterm labor. Should I be worried? How to get away with it? Please suggest.
Thanks & Regards,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
your diarrhea is not related to preterm labor
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
I have read you query and I understand your concerns about diarrhea.
Following is my reply:
1) Diarrhea is not always associated with preterm labor.
2) Your diarrhea is likely to be due to unknown food poisoning in your case.
3) Preterm fears arise only after 20 weeks of pregnancy which is not in your case.
4) Hence this diarrhea has nothing to do with preterm labor and there is nothing to worry about it.
5) Drink more water and eat food regularly.
I hope I answered you query and addressed your concerns.
Let me know if you wish to ask any further questions. I will be glad to help you.

Dr. Mahesh Koregol.

Hi Doctor,
Thanks for your reply. But regarding point 3,
'3) Preterm fears arise only after 20 weeks of pregnancy which is not in your case.'
I am actually 20 weeks 5 days pregnant.
Do you still feel I am ok?

Brief Answer:
You are absolutely fine
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
20 weeks to be just beginning of a revivable birth. Since you just started 20 weeks i dont see any point to worry.
moreover this doesnot appear to be preterm related diarrhea but just food poisoning.
You will be fine in a couple of days. Everything is perfect.
