What Causes Diarrhea Five Days Post FET?
Question: I am five days post FET and instead of feeling constipated (which I have read is a good sign) I feel the exact opposite. Is this a sign that it didn't work?
I have loose stool, similar to when I'm leading up to my period. I transfered two 5 day blastocasts.
Brief Answer:
Diarrhea will not affect post FET outcome
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in details.
Diarrhea following 5 days after FET is unlikely to have a bad effect on the outcome of the procedure. You might have heightened anxiety or also suffer from mild bowel infection. Try and keep your calm and stay hydrated by taking enough fluids and juices.
Hope your query is answered.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.
FET involves preparation of the uterus lining and the body to allow the pregnancy to proceed. As a part of the FET treatment, the patient is usually given oral estrogen, progesterone as injection or tablet form, medrol (to increase chances of implantation) and an antibiotic to reduce chances of infections. The medications are to be taken as per instructions given by your doctor.
The progesterone may cause the constipation in most patients and is not always a sign of pregnancy. The diarrhea can be caused by antibiotics or infection or stress and does not necessarily mean a bad FET procedure.
Wishing you good health.
