What Causes Diarrhea In Infant While Teething?
Question: Hi Doctor,
My daughter has completed 9 months and her first tooth has appeared (upper front tooth). We are feeling that her behaviour has become a little bit cranky and she is doing potty more frequently. She did potty three times today though previously she was doing potty only once sometimes in 2 days. It is normal in teething? We are giving her homeopathic medicine BC21 (2 tablets twice daily) as of now.
Any suggestions or precautions during this period to make this teething process comfortable for baby? Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Mouthing objects is the reason for frequency in stools
Detailed Answer:
Hi....I understand your concern. Frequency of stool while teething is very common. After I explain the logic behind it, you will be more comfortable.
Toddlers keep everything they find into mouth to sooth the sensation of erupting gums due to teeth coming out. While doing so some impurities on the objects they put into mouth go into their system and this causes mild increase in frequency of stool.
Unless the kid's having low urine output or very dull or excessively sleepy or blood in motion or green bilious vomiting...you need not worry.
You can prevent it by keeping all her toys and objects in her vicinity clean and wiped.
