What Causes Difficulty And Strain In Passing Urine Post Menopause?
I'm having a really hard time trying to pee. I have to push really hard and it starts and stops mid flow and can take up to 20 minutes to feel like my bladder is finally emptied. There is no stinging or pain with the flow per-say. However, the urine does feel hot. I am a 56yr. old woman and am in menopause. Thank you for any help you can give me. I would especially be interested in knowing what you think might be going on with me and what kind of Dr. or specialty I should see. Thanks again. ~XXXX
It is mostly due to what is called as Urethral Stenosis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have difficulty in passing urine and has to strain to pass urine .
This is mostly due to what is called as Post Menopausal Urethral Stenosis which is very common in females at this age (particularly after menopause ).
During peri menopausal period there is generalized atrophy of genitourinary organs that also involves urethral passage causing narrowing of the urethral passage what is called as Urethral Stenosis causing obstruction to outflow of urine.
You need to consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination .He may advise you to undergo short endoscopic procedure of Urethral Calibration which has to be followed by self dilatation at home every day for few months to keep the urethra widely dilated .
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
