Their will be swelling inside your nose
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Generally there will be swelling of the tissues inside your nose after surgery, which is the reason why you are not able to breathe, Please dont worry as this swelling will subside by 7 to 10 days , and you will be fine after that.
Septoplasty is a surgery done to correct the nasal septum, the purpose is not to make the septum absolutely straight [ which is impossible in most of the patients]. The idea is to correct the deviation as much as possible so that the patient can breathe easily from the nose. Please dont worry about what you are seeing in the mirror, some deviation may still persist.
Its better to blow the nose at least gently as this will help clean up your nose better and also reduce the swelling.
please dont worry.
You will be fine!!
Thanks

so the septum i see in the mirror which still blocking the right side its swollen thats why its still big ? it will come to normal or small by time ?
Yes there will be a swelling
Detailed Answer:
yes
the septum still looks deviated because of edema and this should come down in a few more days.
In would like to emphasize again that it is seldom possible to make the septum absolutely straight and the main aim of surgery is to relieve the patients symptoms and not make the septum absolutely straight.
please don't worry
You will be fine!!
Take care

It looks bit swollen, don't worry
Detailed Answer:
Hello
From the picture you have sent , it only looks bit swollen. pain , fever and yellow discharge are signs of infection and if you don't have any of these then there is nothing to worry.
In my patients I ask them to apply mupirocin ointment twice a day for a week after surgery as this prevents any infection from setting in.
for the time being just keep doing the nasal irritations.
Take care

it happen in ur carrier to meet with a patient that he had permanent congestion after surgery ? and never improved even after monthes or year? incase of this exist any treatment or another surgery to make the patient breeze again ?
did happen that a patient can be congested for ever for example?
The patient may have had an allergy
Detailed Answer:
Hello
It is possible that the patient would have also had other problems like allergy or nasal polyps which would have resulted in the nasal congestion.
Please don't worry as this is rare and can be managed with steroid nasal sprays and nasal irrigation.
get well soon
Thanks

Yes you can
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Yes you can use the spray and salt cleaning . It will help remove all the crusts and reduce the swelling.
In my patients , i advice them to continue salt cleaning for at least 4-6 weeks after surgery.
Take care!

yes you can use it more than 3 times a day
Detailed Answer:
Hello
I would normally advise my patients to do the irrigation 3 times a day for the first 2 weeks and then twice a day after that. However, if you feel comfortable then you can even do it more than 3 times a day. There is no harm in using it.
Thanks
Brief Answer:
yes it is normal
Detailed Answer:
Hello
It is normal to have blood tinged secretions for 7-10 days after surgery and most of this is old bleeding which would have occred during surgery and would slowly come out, dont worry about it.
However i would also like you to resist blowing the nose too hard as it may cause fresh bleeding and delay the wound healing.
Gentle irrigation and gentle blowing of the nose should be sufficient.
Take care

incase of bleeding if occur blood should go out
cant happened internal bleeding ?
Mild bleeding is normal
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Both blowing in and blowing out forcefully can cause bleeding and you should be gentle.
mild bleeding is common and you don't have to worry. if the bleeding is more or continuous then you will have to meet your doctor as soon as possible.
I normally prescribe nasal decongestants like Oxymetazoline drops to my patients which they can instill in their nose in case of bleeding. I would also advise them to pinch their nose if the bleeding is more as pinching reduces the bleeding.
Take care

Yes it can old blood
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Bleeding from the nose can be both from the front and back. When t is from the back then the patient spits out the blood as it goes in the throat.
irrigation and blowing the nose can cause mild bleeding or dislocated old clots. This is normal and you don't have to worry about it.
Take care
