What Causes Difficulty In Passing Urine?

default
Posted on Mon, 7 Aug 2017
Question: Unable to urinate. When I can, I have had to squeeze it out. But with in past 3 hr plus I have had run to a restroom with the urge but Nothing but drops. Prescribed Flowmax Oral since 6/27. Took a pill around 5pm, knowing I would not be doing anything if I got dizzy. Pain at the end of the head maybe a 3/8- 1/2 inch from the tip. Which I think maybe the kidney stone coming out. Drinking liquids. Anything else.

Brief Answer:
need to consul qualified Urologist .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .

Unable to pass urine with pain in terminal part of shaft of penis could be due to either impacted stone in urethra or Acute retention of urine due to enlarged prostate. The situation needs to be dealt with as a emergency.

Go to ER and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis
1) Clinical examination by a qualified Surgeon or Urologist .
2) Routine urine examination
3) Plain X ray of the abdomen (Pelvic region including penis.
4) Ultrasound Scanning of abdomen and pelvis .

If it turns out to be due to impacted stone in urethra It needs to be removed either manually or by endoscopic procedure of Urothroscopy .

If is is due to enlarged prostate you will need to get catheterized to be followed by further investigations and evaluation to decide further modality of treatment .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Brief Answer:
Repeat Ultrasound Scanning of penis done .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up .

The ultrasound Scan done on 5th July has no significance in present context .

You need to do ultrasound scan of penis to rule out or confirm the stone in urethra.

Thanks and Regards.

OKAY, I made it through the night. Sleeping off and on. Also took another Flow XXXXXXX at about 3am. I massaged myself to urinate, releasing the pressure. The stone is peaking at the opening. I can physically touch it. is ER still required? When it comes out, do I need to save the kidney stone for my doctor to analyze? And what do I do then, besides praying I made it throught this ordeal to this point. Do I continue meds? and just follow up with my regular physicians

Brief Answer:
Stone is on the verge of being expelled out

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up .

Based on your statement if you can see the stone at external urethral opening try to squeeze it out manually after using local anesthetic gelly (Xylocaine ) ..You can preserve it and send for analysis so that you can take dietary measure to prevent recurrence of stone formation .

You need to take medications for next 3-4 days .

Thanks and Regards.
