What Causes Difficulty In Pronouncing Few Words, Poor Concentration And Mood Swings?

Question: So I am very concerned about this. For the last two years I've been feeling high 3-4 days a week. I feel a real disconnect from life. I can't pronounce words that well. I am awkward. I can't concentrate. I don't know what I'm doing half the time. People talk to me and it's like I'm not even there. And this happens all the time. Some days I'm clear as day.

Some small things somewhat intesify it. Coffee, V8 juice, soup high in sodium etc. they only have a small affect though.

The next day after drinking, that intensifies it by 3x. But even there are days when I haven't drank in 2 weeks and I wake up high.

If I sleep for 5 hours or less, the less I feel high. If I sleep for 9-10 hours, I get it really bad.

It really changed me. Immediately i started having these crazy mood swings where I would get mad at things I wouldnt normally get mad at. I almost felt bi polar. I never use to be like that. I was always the kid who would be having a blast no matter what I was doing.

The only natural supplement that works a tiny bit is L-tyrosine. It makes me think somewhat clearer, but im still awkward and i have less charisma.

This all started one night after I drank and smoked pot in my friends backyard with my friends in masschusetts during the summer. ( which i use to do all the time which wasnt a big deal )

I'm pretty outgoing and charismatic and I find myself so quiet now because when I talk I just sound like an idiot. I've taken every natural supplement and multi vitamin in the world to try and cure this and nothing really works. Please help me.

Brief Answer:
Dysautonomia and simple partial seizures should be excluded.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

In my opinion, the condition you refer is more likely to be related to anxiety disorder, but other conditions need to be evaluated and excluded before leaving the culprit to anxiety.

If you were my patient, I would consider and test you further about dysautonomia (a disorder of the peripheral nervous system) and about simple partial seizures.

So, in order to name correctly the condition that is causing your symptoms, you should be evaluated by a Neurologist and by tests (such electroencephalogram, blood pressure, heart rhythm monitoring).

If above mentioned conditions are excluded after the examinations, anxiety disorder remains the main possibility and as a first step in controlling your symptoms, you should avoid triggering factors that you mentioned.

Discussing with a Psychologist about your concerns also should help.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.

Thank you for your response! I do have a few questions. What exactly makes you feel like its an anxeity disorder? What made me spend the money on this was because I dont think its anxeity. This has been going on for two years unfortunately and I've been pretty relaxed about it. In my life, I sleep awesome, I dont worry much. Normal heart rate. Very out going and charismatic. This literally happened over night. Like black and white. Like something happened. I remember the exact day i woke up and felt it. When I get anxious about something, its not like these symptoms start up randomly.. Its more like my brain isnt functioning properly. I wake up legit high. Im so out of it. But two days later I'm perfectly fine. Besides the other things you stated, could it be any of these issues.. Thyroid, lyme disease, hormones, oxygen to my brain?

Brief Answer:
Sudden onset is not a characteristic of thyroid, Lyme etc.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

I thought about anxiety disorder as more probable condition because of the sudden onset of your problems and mood swings you refer.

Thyroid dysfunction, Lyme, hormones imbalances symptoms don't came "out of the blue" and don't change dramatically by days.

Probably you overpaid attention to that episode.

However, I mentioned two other conditions such seizures and autonomous nervous system that may start more or less suddenly and can be triggered by factors you mentioned.

After all, this is an online consultation, and since I can't examine you, I can only give you directions to discuss with your Doctor, in order to achieve a correct diagnosis.

Hope this helps.

Take care.
