What Causes Dilated Hepatic Vein?
Question: What can cause dilated hepatic vein .
I did a cardio tests (EKG , stress test , blood test ) & liver function test , AFP test & thsnks God everything is normal but i always feel a quick pain for a seconds under my right ribs specially the last one . & sometimes i feel burbing .
For your info i have been diagnosed last year with Sliding hiatus hernia & bile gastritis . I did a CT tri phasec on abdomen & 1 ultra sound . & it shows hepatic hemangioma but my dr when saw the films told me that i have dilated hepatic vein .what does it mean .

Hepatic haemangioma is a benign hypervascular liver lesion. It is the most common benign tumour of the liver.It is generally asymptomatic and doesn't require any treatment.
Dilated hepatic vein is associated with many other features.Hepatic veins are enlarged due to heart dysfunctions.Patients have cardiac or pulmonary symptoms and also there will be a sense of fullness and tenderness in the right hypochondriac region.There is enlarged liver also.
You have mentioned that your cardiac status is fine so you shouldn't worry.

What do you mean with correlate clinically & what is the right hypochondriac ?
You mean fullness & tenderness in the stomach ?

Dilated hepatic vein and haemangioma are not same things.They are entirely different entities.
Haemangioma are well defined structure in the liver and shows delayed enhancement during contrast imaging whereas hepatic veins are draining veins from the liver and these are tubular in structure.

I din't have enlarged liver & i went to my dr he told me that it may be your colon cause i am suffering from IBS . But i have a question can liver cancer cause a little pain for a seconds then go away . I know that it is too far but i am always afraid from this word (cancer) & can they mistake hemangioma or dilated hepatic vein with liver cncer through Tri phasec CT scan & ultra sound ? a

But i have a right side pain around the last rib , i don't know if it is from my ribs or not my dr said it may be from colon as i have IBS or from the muscles around the rib . He prscribed me 2 medicine for the colon & cream for muscles but till now nothing have changed . It is a very lite pain for just a seconds . So can this from the dilated hepatic vein . Or can i just imagine the pain ?

Sometimes i feel that the right side pain is from my front & rear last ribs ,can this pain is related to the ribs , i feel it from over than 3 months & anyone squeeze my ribs i feel a very mild pain & in my CT triphasec nothing has appeared in the ribs . So can my ribs injured and couldn't appear in the CT ?

Pls note that i did today an ultra sound on my liver to see if the hemangioma is processing or not & to check the second opinion of the 3 XXXXXXX French Radiologists who saw my CT triphasec on abdomen & told me that i have not hemangioma at all & it is just a dilated hepatic vein & they are very sure that there is no Hemangioma . But today when i did the Ultra Sound the Dr told me i have nothing neither Hemangioma nor Dilated hepatic Vein & he checked my liver for more than 20 min . SoIs it possible that hemangioma case or dilated hepatic vein case to disappear by itself ?
