What Causes Diminished Hearing In One Ear?

default
Posted on Thu, 21 Jul 2016
Question: I awake with diminished hearing in my left ear after sleeping even partly on that side. Hearing increases within minutes usually but sometimes longer. This has been happening for about a month, I can't think of any change in medication, cold or allergy or anything else.

Brief Answer:
You are most probably having left eustachian tube blockage due to PND

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX ,
Thanks for the query.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

After reading your clinical history it appears that you are most probably having
left eustachian tube blockage due to post nasal drip (PND) .
PND is most likely because of allergy & sinusitis . Need investigation like Nose endoscopy & CT scan Nose & sinuses .

If I were your treating doctor , I would advice
Saline nasal rinse or spray thrice daily ,
Salt water gargles thrice daily ,
Antihistaminic Tab Claritin (Loratadine 10mg) at night &
Tab paracetamol thrice daily .

You will get relief .

Hope this information helpful to you .If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

Regards.
