What Causes Discomfort In Stomach And Foul Smelling Stool?

default
Posted on Tue, 30 Dec 2014
Question: Hi, do I need to be worried about my toddlers stool? 3 days ago my daughters stool in her pull-up was soft, foul smelling, acidic (her bottom was/is quite red), had undigested veggies, and a big round glob of mucus that jiggled but remained solid when moved. She was also having stomach discomfort. Since then she continues to have 1-2 movement/day, same consitency, still foul smelling but not quite as bad, and mucus still present but now stringy. No signs of pain in abdomen.
Do I nees to worry that this is a sign a serious illness?
(I can't note any major changes in diet)
Any insight/advice is greatly appreciated.

Brief Answer:
You need not worry at this time.. Monitoring is all that is required!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this change in stool consistency and all the inconveniences that this has caused you. I have reviewed the information fully and the evolution of the stools over time. There is nothing to worry about at this time. Her symptoms any have suggested a one time intolerance to food and it is well on its way to resolution. No aggressive measures beyond monitoring are required. I am confident her stools would all return to normal without need for further medical intervention.

My advice is to monitor and if you have any other concerns, report to me. Together, we would review and make the necessary recommendations to address it.

I wish your daughter well. I wish you well. Thank you for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
