What Causes Discomfort In Upper Abdomen Between The Rib Cages And Frequent Burping?

Question: I have had a slight discomfort in my upper abdomen, between the rib cages sometimes after i swallow food or a beverage. I'm also burping air more frequently after drinking even tea or water. There was one incident 10 days ago after swallowing a herbal pill (Kavinace) right before bed and it burned by throat as I was falling asleep. I got up and drank milk and ate crackers to help it go down. It started right after this incident 10 days ago and seems to be getting better but not normal. Not sure what this is all about? We are going to a remote part of Costa Rica in two weeks and would like to have it resolved. Any ideas?
