What Causes Dizziness After Having Flomax For Benign Prostate Hyperplasia?

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Feb 2015
Question: Hi. I'm a 64 yr. old male. Had some prostate probs very high PSA. Had a biopsy which came out negative, diagnosis of protetitis (sp). Also on Flomax for BPH. Here's my question. I am experiencing some breathing problems: stuffy nose so bad can't breathe through it, and some constriction of throat so that I wake up feeling like I am choking. I have an allergy to sulfa antibiotic. Do you think I may be having a reaction to Flomax? I will of course make an appointment with my GP but think I will not take the Flomax until I see him. What do you think?

Brief Answer:
Not adverse reactions to flomax

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for your query.
In my opinion, difficulty in breathing is not a adverse reaction to flomax.
Flomax is tamsulosin , alpha adrenergic blocker. It may cause fainting spell and dizziness.

I would suggest you to consult with the doctor regarding breathing difficulty. Empirically you can take antihistamines + mucolytics combination drugs twice daily for 5 days. If symptoms persists, then please consult with your doctor and get evaluated. Hope my answers have helped you. Thanks.
