What Causes Dizziness After Having Massage?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Unlikely HSV encephalitis, MRI scan might help
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Being a radiologist, I have seen many patients with herpes encephalitis and seen it on CT scans and MRI scans. This condition spreads through nerves and hence the brain is affected.
The common symptoms of HSV encephalitis are
Fever (90%)
Headache (81%)
Psychiatric symptoms (71%)
Seizures (67%)
Vomiting (46%)
Focal weakness (33%)
Memory loss (24%)
As you have just dizziness and no other symptoms as mentioned above, I feel you do not have HSV encephalitis.
Since you seem to be disturbed, I suggest you to visit a local doctor and plan for radiological investigations. A CT scan can be normal in early HSV encephalitis and MRI scan is done only when there is a strong suspicion by symptoms and CT scan is normal. MRI scan can show HSV encephalitis even in early stages.
However, if the CT scan is normal then a MRI scan can still be done for you to evaluate dizziness. Dizziness can have many causes in the inner ear and brain and a MRI scan will show it. It is always better to get investigated if the dizziness is persistent and progressively worsening with time.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek

Please get tested for HSV antibodies.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.
Since she might not have any blisters suspicious of HSV infection, the possibility of you having it is less likely but not impossible. One in 6 people in the US are HSV infected and most do not have any symptoms. The earliest symptoms of infection includes rashes which can be painful and concentrated around the genitals or mouth or any particular nerve distribution in the body.
It will be good to get tested for HSV antibodies since it has been 45 days after the incident and should you be infected, it will be known by a blood test.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek
