What Causes Dizziness After Having Massage?
Question: hi, around 45 days ago, i had been to a massage parlor, where the masseuse started rimming me (licking my anus area). it carried for around 5-6 seconds where i told her to stop since i was not hoping to have this. Approximately 15- days later, i started getting a vertigo feeling, and dizziness which has been going around for a month or so. No sores around mouth or anal area, but just some dizziness, no fever nothing. i am suspecting that by this encounter i might have hsv 1 or hsv2 by which i am having dizziness symtoms. i am getting very nervous. I read that herpes simplex gives an infection which causes vertigo or infections of inner ear. also i am scared about viral herpes encephelitis. i had a CT scan which did not reveal anything, but will an MRI reveal something for this dizziness that i am having.

Being a radiologist, I have seen many patients with herpes encephalitis and seen it on CT scans and MRI scans. This condition spreads through nerves and hence the brain is affected.

Fever (90%)

Psychiatric symptoms (71%)
Seizures (67%)
Vomiting (46%)
Focal weakness (33%)
Memory loss (24%)
As you have just dizziness and no other symptoms as mentioned above, I feel you do not have HSV encephalitis.
Since you seem to be disturbed, I suggest you to visit a local doctor and plan for radiological investigations. A CT scan can be normal in early HSV encephalitis and MRI scan is done only when there is a strong suspicion by symptoms and CT scan is normal. thanks for the reply on herpes encephalitis. that relieves me of some pressure. but what are the chances of getting the HSV 1 virus thru the episode that i had. again, i have no visible symptoms of hsv 1 or hsv 2. i am scare that that gave me the infection of the inner ear after 16 days of the episode happening.

It will be good to get tested for HSV antibodies since it has been 45 days after the incident and should you be infected, it will be known by a blood test.
