What Causes Dizziness Along With Nausea When I Open Eyes?
also have pressure on back of neck and upper back almost like pressure on my spline
Seem sto be ear related vertigo, better to get a medical check-up.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. You do describe vertigo (spinning) dizziness.
2. Usually, the vertigo related to the inner ear should be better with the eyes closed and worsen when you open the eyes. This increases the mismatch from the visual input and the vestibular (inner ear) system.
3. Your vertigo should ideally lessen when you fix your gaze, if this is a peripheral (ear) related vertigo. The vertigo will be unchanged on gaze fixation if it is central (brain) related.
4. All this and the nystagmus (abnormal eye movements) seen in cases of dizziness require a doctor to observe (cannot be observed by the patient).
5. Hence I would recommend that you get examined as soon as possible.
6. The pressure on the neck and spine may be due to spinal muscle spasm from the effort of fighting the dizziness or due to cervical spine strain.
7. These symptoms will settle down rapidly with medication rehabilitation exercises.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
