What Causes Dizziness Along With Poor Vision?
I live alone and I am somewhat afraid. I also have been feeling lightheaded. Was being treated for a
sinus infection Dr. regarding my stomach but at the time my vision was fine. Please advise.
What should I do. I am afraid to drive and it is absolutely necessary because I have no one to help. It is the weekend. I can't get any help until possibly Monday. This is not a good weekend to have something like this happen to me.
In my haste I forgot to include that I have had cataract surgery about 3 years ago. I also take medication for bi-polarism and fybromyalgia and IBS. I can see while I am writing to you with reading glasses, but that's it. Everything else looks out of focus.
I take carbamazepine, seroquel, tramadol, neurontin, bentyl. Just started taking bentyl a couple of days ago. I've taken it before and this has not happened. However, the seroquel is new. I've been taking it for about 3 months.
A local eye examination with CT brain is required at the earliest.
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,
I understand your query and concern.
Sudden onset diplopia in presence of underlying sinus infection warrant immediate further investigation in the form of CT scan brain-non contrast to rule out cavernous sinus thrombosis/CST.
CST has dangerous propensity to cause cranial nerve palsy particularly 6th nerve causing diplopia, which is an early sign.
Its very essential for us to rule this disorder at the earliest.
The drug list you mentioned for Bipolar disorder ,fibromyalgia and IBS seems to have no direct relation to diplopia.
Post Cataract surgery stage can also present with this diplopia in certain individuals.
In case if your CT is normal,it then becomes essential to screen your eye through fundocsopy and Slit lamp examination to rule local eye disorders causing diplopia.
Post your further queries,if any.
Thank you.
