What Causes Dizziness And Anxiety After Stopping Paxidep?
I had been on paxidep cr 12.5 for 3 months, and stopped the drug consumption four days ago.
Since then, I am experiencing dizziness and mild anxiety.
Are these withdrawal symptoms? If yes, then what should I do - Should I start the drug again or wait for the symptoms to subside on their own with time?
One more thing, there isn't a paxidep doze lower than cr 12.5.
Likely to be discontinuation symptoms, can wait...
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.
Paxidep (Paroxetine) is an SSRI anti-depressant / anti-anxiety medication. The symptoms that you are experiencing are likely to be discontinuation symptoms as a result of abruptly stopping Paxidep. It is also possible that the mild anxiety could be a 'rebound anxiety' - that is a resurgence of the anxiety symptoms which was previously kept down by the medication.
Usually, discontinuation / withdrawal symptoms will subside gradually within a short period of time. So, I would suggest that you wait for a few more days as your symptoms are likely to reduce. You can try practicing some relaxation techniques like deep breathing, yoga, etc. to manage the mild anxiety. Keep yourself adequately hydrated by drinking plenty of water and fresh fruit juices. Ensure that you sleep for 7 - 8 hours in the night continuously.
Regarding your question about the dose of Paxidep, 12.5 is the lowest available dose.
