What Causes Dizziness And High Heart Rate?

default
Posted on Mon, 10 Apr 2017
Question: My son-in-law is experiencing dizziness, blood pressure of 159/115 and heart rate of 110+. He has been doing construction or destruction in our basement and we found mold that was black in color. He has fallen several times from the dizziness. Can this have anything to do with mold? What else should we consider?

I should mention that the basement tear out 2 to 3 weeks ago and these are current symptoms as of yesterday, but have been going on for a few days now.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for your query.
Your so-in-law has high blood pressure and a very high heart rate. These can interfere with the blood flow to certain parts of the brain which are involved in maintaining balance. The situation gets worsened if he is under stress or has an ear infection.
Mold infection/ allergy usually causes symptoms in the respiratory field like upper or lower respiratory system allergy or infection and can lead to cough, breathlessness, running nose etc. It is unusual as a cause for high BP or symptoms of a cardiovascular nature.
It would be good to have him examined by a doctor, investigated and treated well if symptoms persist.
