What Causes Dizziness And Pressure In Head After Taking Morphine For Sleep?

Dr. Seikhoo Bishnoi
My primary denied Ambien and prescribed Morphine and an anti-depressant...I am not depressed!!! He said it would help me sleep...He said to take the both pills at the same time and I didn't wake up for 13 1/2 hours!!!! I felt dizzy and walking around like I had a stuffed head!! It was the craziest feeling I never, ever want to feel again. So I emailed him back and he said if I felt that bad for me to take only the anti depressant. He sounds like a quack to me. He totally went to the other side of the spectrum for what I needed. Oh well. I guess I am doctor shopping again. I have Kaiser and love the Kaiser plan, just not the doctors. Thanks for asking. Ask your doctor to reduce the doses of Morphine
Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking a follow up question
Yes your primary is right, anti-depressant drug will help in improvement in sleep also. Morphine also causes sedation so would help in sleep. You got sleep with medicine but the drugs caused dizziness and heavy head. Such symptoms would last for some days and after some days you will develop tolerance to the side effects of Morphine.
You can talk to your PCP and can ask to decrease the dose of Morphine. This should help you in sleep without causing side effects. Alternately you can visit another doctor and you should explain your situation and can take prescription of Ambien if possible. This would help you in sleep. Please try to avoid Ambien in high doses regularly as I have mentioned in last answer that it can increase cognitive impairment.
Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care
