What Causes Dizziness And Tingling Feeling In Head?

default
Posted on Fri, 28 Nov 2014
Question: 33 female

For 2 years-- feel symptoms of feeling strange like I may pass out, but do not. Rarely feel dizzy, but I have. Never have passed out or had a seizure, but I have a fear that I will. I do not get headaches, but have some tingling in head occasionally. Not tired or fatigued, just scared. I had what felt like a hot flash today. Symptoms came when I was pregnant with my third child. Everyday I am scared something is wrong with me. I feel like it is a brain tumor. I also have a history of thyroid issues in family.

Thanks for contacting HCM

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with what we call near syncope. From your description you are having low blood pressures that make you feel like you are gong to pass out. In females the most common cause of low blood pressure is anemia. A low blood count can cause low blood pressures and fainting. You will need a complete blood count to determine if you have anemia. To treat the anemia you may need iron supplements to build your blood counts up.

Another cause would be hypothyroidism. Since you are female and post partum this is high on the list of causes for low blood pressure. While getting your blood work I recommend that you get TSH free T4 T3 and T7 levels. If your results show hypothyroid then you will be placed on thyroid replacements

It is very unlikely that a brain tumor would explain your symptoms. The usual presenting symptoms of a brain tumor is seizures.
