What Causes Dizziness, Dry Skin And Bloating When Diagnosed With Helminth Infections?

Question: Hi - For a long time I have been of the strong opinion that I have a lot of helminthic infections going on - I feel them moving, biting me or moving about near my bum, and have seen many worm-like things expelled while on Pagagone. I feel sick, dizzy, dry skin, bloated. I eat a very good diet, take care of myself and been to many doctors. I recently did a CDSA test which showed very high Eosinophil Protein X - a marker for parasitic infections. Do you have any idea what could my particular "helminth" could be, and how to get rid of it or them?? I am 51 and exhausted from this. Thank you very much, XXXX XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Further investigations needed to rule out the specific cause !

Detailed Answer:
It's Dr. Hanif with a warm welcome. Thanks for visiting and trusting HCM. I have thoroughly reviewed health query you raised, and well realize all of those concerns.

PROBABLE CAUSES:
EPX (Eosinophil protein X) is an indicator of inflammation and gut allergic reactions. High levels of EPX can be seen in the following multiple cases:-
Long standing diarrhea.
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that is a gut disease.
Food and medications allergy.
Gastrointestinal infections including HELMINTH infections (intestinal parasite infection also called Helminthiasis).
Patients at advancing age EPX can also be high due to gut cancers.
Alcoholics also have high EPX levels.

So in the context of EPX consideration isn't typically known to be a specific test. But it is sensitive enough though.

You need a consultation from a Gastroenterologist who will have to rule out other causes of raised EPX and will also need to extend the investigations on you regarding your query's main point " What Helminth it actually can be?". To answer that question, your Gastroenterologist will need to go for "Fecal Parasitology Profiling"; and, an Endoscopic examination of the Gut. In this way he will be able to decide which pathogen it actually is and then we can direct the treatment regimen accordingly.

MANAGEMENT OPTIONS:
Your Gastroenterologist can well establish a treatment regimen for you once he does some more investigations to focus on exploring the main cause of issue.

FINAL SUGGESTIONS:
I can name more than a dozen pathogens for which the drug of choice I use is IVERMECTIN. Ask your Gastroenterologist to consider a prescription for that until he is done with the time taking investigations. It has a broader spectrum of coverage against Gut parasites and is a great deworming agent used extensively. Once specific pathogen is found out on investigations, your Doctor may need to change the treatment regimen accordingly.

Hope I addressed all the concerns you have. Let me know if you have further questions. I will be more than happy to help. In future for a fast and direct consultation from me use this link ( http://tinyurl.com/drhanifmd ) and I will be with you in no time to solve your health issues.
