What Causes Dizziness, Heartburn And Lethargy In A Person With Multiple Sclerosis?

default
Posted on Tue, 18 Aug 2015
Question: I've been having a lot of dizziness and heartburn and lethargy. I was diagnosed with MS 15 years ago but it seems to be quite manageable for me most of the time. I'd be going to the doctor for my gut issues and he put me on some supplements to help and it seems to exacerbate my lack of digestion and is creating heartburn. I'm trying to decide if it's the supplements, my MS, or something I'm missing like a heart problem. My doctor of 20 years fired me so I'm at a loss as to who to go to since every doctor I go to has a specialty and that seems to be where they focus. The last doctor I went to was a naturopath so he saw as the nutritional. The one before that was an allergy specialist and he saw it as allergies. I'm a layperson and I see it as a problem. I was just googling lightheadedness, heartburn, foggy head and lethargy and it took me here. So there you have it.

Brief Answer:
A Gastroenterologist should be consulted.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

In my opinion, your new symptoms seem to be related mostly to hyper acidity or stomach conditions such gastritis, gastroesophageal acid reflux or gastric ulcer, but this needs to be confirmed by consulting a Gastroenterologist and having a gastroduodenal endoscopy done.

This possible diagnosis is related to new supplements you are taking or could be side effect of MS treatment.

In mean time, I recommend you to start a trial of antiacid drugs ( Ranitidine, Omeprazole) as a mean to evaluate this diagnosis too, besides improving your symptoms.

If gastroduodenal endoscopy results negative, other less possible causes of your symptoms such heart problems should be evaluated.

Hope this helps. I remain at your disposal for further questions and clarifications.

Take care.
