What Causes Dizziness In A Parkinson's Patient?
Question: I have advanced parkinsons. So I have lots of issues. One being that today I woke up dizzy. I went to an opthamalogist last week and he is sending me to a retina specialist but I can't get in for A month. I have what he calls a hole in my eye. Now that tonight I read about eyes and dizziness I am wondering if this is an emergency. I am taking a med to reduce my eye pressure. Last week at the dr my pressure was 15 but prior to meds it was 28 and 27. This eye has had a detached retina. I had no ideal until 1o min ago that my dizziness could be eye related. I just assumed it was parkinsons. Lately my eye has been getting really red like I am an alcoholic but I don't drink. Is there any parkinsons meds that could cause nerve damage. I do know that the dr said I had stage 4 macular degineration. I am concerned

It seems from the history that you are having hole in the retina. I think it is stage four macular hole as told by your doctor as macular degeneration is a different condition and stages are not present in macular degeneration.
Stage 4 macular holes require treatment by retinal surgery if vision is involved and if it is not stage 4 and if by chance it is in earlier stages observation can be done as there are some chances of spontaneous closure.
Hence you need to consult your retina specialist as advised by your primary care ophthalmologist.
Since the eye pressure is 15 now, no need to worry.
Increased intraocular pressure of the eye can be related with dizziness. Since the intraocular pressure is normal it is unlikely to be caused by this condition. Macular hole or macular degenerations are not associated with dizziness. Hence it looks like dizziness is not because of your eye problem.
Dizziness is a common problem in Parkisnson's disease and most of the drugs used to treat Parkinson's disease can cause dizziness.
Hence your eye problem is not the cause for dizziness and your retinal problem needs evaluation and treatment by a retina specialist.
