What Causes Dizziness When Lying Down In An Elderly Person?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: Hi, when I laid on the floor to do exercised, I feel faint..Also happens when I bend down, like to tie shoes. I am 80 yrs old, 5'11,180 lbs, have HBP witch goes away if I excersice . I am doing streach excersices for a sore back.
Have noticed this before, but not as severe. I did not feel comfortable continuing to lay flat on my back and had to get up right away, thenw the dizzyness, went away. Have tubes in both ears. Not sure if the problem is ear related or cariovascular. What can I do to pin down the problem........I just took Half pill of Lisinopril-hctz 20-12.5 and and drinking water. What else can I do to stop the dizzyness that occurs upon laying down. THank you,

Brief Answer:
You need to get your blood pressure check up
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. I think that you are having poorly controlled blood pressure or Ear problem. Both these can cause giddiness in change of position. Some time sudden low glucose also causes giddiness. I would suggest you to get your blood pressure check up and also ENT check up. Meanwhile you need to take lots of fluid with salt and glucose. Do not watch television or laptop for long hours.
I hope these steps will be helpful for you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks

Thank you. Will start taking blood pressure meds all the time. Have not done so thinking I can "cure" HBP by doing exercises. Have BP monitor. What is the best way to get salt and glucose into my body with normal stuff one has around the kitchen......teaspoon of salt and sugar in 8 oz of water? Or some other combination?
Brief Answer:
you can make lemonade
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Exercise is good for long term BP control but it increases blood pressure for some time. For taking salt and glucose you can take salty lemonade just before or during exercises.
thanks
