What Causes Dizziness While On Meganeuron PG?

default
Posted on Sat, 2 Jul 2016
Question: My mother has been advised Mega neuron PG.
Why? She fell twice on her back in Dec in a span of 15 days and has undergone minor injury in her lower spinal part. While the pain in backbone has been a permanent irritant for last 6 months, she is doing physiotherapy to counter the same. But she is also complaining of pain in her backside going down to her thighs as well. Not related to muscle or bone. More line nerve. Post the same doctors suggested Meganeuron.

Issue:

She is 60 years old. I understand that for older ladies after having the medicine there is side effect of dizziness, difficulty in standing up, sleepiness, especially in intial days. She took it once and then stopped due to these. Now after a lot of convincing she has started yesterday and will perisist with medicine for 3 -4 days to ensure her system gets used to it. My question is she had the medicine last night at 9:30. However symptoms are persisting even after 12 hours. I understand that it is supposed to subside in 4-6 hrs, Is it normal to continue for 12 hrs and should we continue with repeat dosage again today night at 9:30 irresnepctive of how her body is reacting to this problem?

Brief Answer:
Either reduce dose to 50 mg or change brand

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXX,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Meganeuron PG contains pregabalin which is useful in neuropathic pain. The dose of pregabalin is 75 mg and may cause dizziness in some patients in initial days.
Other option is to start with 50 mg of pregabalin like Maxgalin 50 or maxmala 50 and increase dose after a week.
Even different brands with same dosage have different side effects propensity. You can change the brand too with same 75 mg dose. One suggestion is of rejusite 75 mg of Sanofi Aventis.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
