What Causes Droopy Eyes, Fatigue And Ankle Swelling?

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Jul 2015
Question: I do not know if I have hypothroid or hyperthyroid symptoms. I feel my eyes drooping, fatigue, discoloring of my lower leg skin (ankle areas), ankle swelling at the end of day.
I had a hx of gestational hyperthroidism and a couple of years ago hypothryroidism and medicated with armour thyroid which my provider changed it to synthroid.

Brief Answer:
Please, do TSH levels for treatment evaluation!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these symptoms that you have reported. Fatigue is generally suggestive of hypothyroidism and under medication. With you reporting that synthroid seems not to work as well as armour, it could be a problem of medication.

To have convincing evidence, I will suggest that you do a blood TSH levels. This will tell if your drugs are working well or not, Based on this, we can make a case for you to be switched back to armour that worked better for you.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Let me know what your thoughts are about my suggestions.
