What Causes Dry And Itchy Skin?
Question: For the past two weeks, my skin, all over my body, has been itchy. In general, I have dry skin. Two days ago, I started experiencing itchiness in my right breast as well, in the area of the areola. It has been itchy before, a few times a year, but, this time, I noticed these two patches of flaky skin on the areola, extremely itchy, when touched. They seem to me like extremely irritated XXXXXXX glands. The rest of the glands on the right areola look irritated as well, but not that much. Also, these two patches seem to have destroyed the XXXXXXX glands underneath them. I am not breastfeeding, I do not have kids, actually. Also, my nipple seems intact and there is no discharge from it. I cannot feel any lumps in my breast either. Could it be Paget's desease? Im attaching a photo
Brief Answer:
Breast patch
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking.
I've reviewed the image.
It doesn't look like Paget disease, it's looking more like some kind of area infection or eczema.
I'd suggest you to get:
1-Breast ultrasound.
2-do consult a Dermatologist for the possibility of pomade using. They are some kind of pomade with antibiotics or with cortisone.
If you have any additional questions please don't hesitate to ask me again.

I saw my doctor today. She said it didnt look like Paget. She examined my back, too, and saw a rash there, on the same side of the breast and at the same hight. She thinks it might be shingles affecting the breast and the back, altho she is still not sure about the rash on the areola. Could it be shingles affecting the areola?
She examined my breasts as well. She said she feels some thickening (no lumps) in the affected breast, but said it was normal, if the breast is irritated. She told me to come back in a month and that I dont need a mammogram. Should I still get one on my own?
Thanks.

Hello
Yes could it be shingles affecting the areola.
In my opinion a breast ultrasaund would be sufficient.
