Hello,
Thanks for posting your query in HealthcareMagic,
For the symptoms that you have described, I would suggest you to do the following:
- Take Syrup TUSQ-D 10ml twice daily, this contains dextromethorphan which acts as a cough suppressant.
- T. Levocet 5mg twice daily for 3 days
- Steam inhalation 2-3 times a day.
- If you seem to have any symptoms of infection like, fever, productive sputum, color change of sputum, difficulty in breathing etc, you will have to start on a course of antibiotics. Till then this will be enough.
I hope this helps,
Regards

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
Thanks for writing back,
I would like to know if Novaclav was prescribed for you by your treating doctor. If so, how many days did you take this for?
Novaclav 625 contains amoxicillin+ clavulinic acid combination which is to be taken twice daily for a period of 5 or 7 days.
If you have abruptly discontinued it, you will need to restart the course again. If already taken the full course, there is no need to start a new regime of antibiotics.
I have not mentioned any antibiotics for you.
I hope this helps,
Please feel free to discuss further or else kindly close the query and share your positive feedback,

the cough is still causing chest pain . but there is a bit relief from yesterday.
Brief Answer:
Pain relievers for chest pain can be considered
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for replying back,
Good to know that there is some symptomatic relief,
The chest pain along with cough is due to the excessive stress caused to the muscles involved while coughing, thereby causing muscle spasm.
For this, you can consider using any pain reliever like T. DOLO 650mg or T. DICLOFENAC as an when needed.
Also take cough lozenges, which will soothen the throat and preventing repetitive episodes of coughing.
You may also consider using a humidifier at home.
I hope I have answered to your query,
