What Causes Dry Crusty String Like Substance On The Nipple?
It has been staying at the right side of the skin around the nipple. Please see the attached new photo.
Thank you. I never heard of such a thing before in that location around a nipple. How does one get such a thing there? it doesn't bother me,. and I thought such infections itch. Should I apply the creams just once a day for a week or so?
Fungal infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for clarification.
I would suspect that you may have a bit of a yeast infection. This is similar to athletes foot or jock itch. Same fungus. You might try dabbing it with some antifungal cream which you can find over the counter. There is also a chance it is a bacterial infection rather than fungal. SO, I would mix equal parts of antifungal cream with antibiotic ointment. Be sure you are cleaning and drying the area well prior to applying the medicine.
This should clear up in a few days if this is the problem. If it doesn't, it merits a trip to your doctor for further evaluation.
Take care.
Brief Answer:
It's just a fungal infection.
Detailed Answer:
It can be due to wetness around the nipple or due to some other irritant.
Fungal infections do present without itching also. Just use the creams for a week or 10 days. You'll get relieved of it.
some times this scaling happens due to dryness also. Keep your skin hydrated by using good moisturizer around the affected area.
take care.
