What Causes Dry Heaving Every Time I Brush My Teeth?
Question: I gag every time I brush my teeth, and also when I cough. My PCP thinks it’s my psych meds, but I disagree.
Brief Answer:
Needs evaluation
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Gagging occurs whenever the throat mucosa is irritated.
Irritation of throat mucosa can be seen when there is reflux disease or inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa or the tonsillar pillars.
I recommend a physical examination of the throat which gives insights into what might be the cause of the gags.
Do consult a GP or a ENT specialist if possible.
