Some possibilities
Detailed Answer:
First and foremost, I am so sorry you are experiencing these symptoms! I can imagine they are quite burdensome. As for medications being the cause it is a possibility, though not necessarily the main cause in all situations. I will be perfectly honest and say that it sounds like a potential nerve irritation and or nerve based pathology to me. Are these symptoms more pronounced on one side of the face than others? Short courses of steroids have been known to improve many forms of nerve irritation, have you and your doctor spoken of this possibility? regardless of the cause, I think imaging is a necessity. have you had any facial CT scans or MRIs? they can help locate many physical and chemical changes associated with the tissue in which your symptoms occur. a biopsy will be very useful as well. Of course there are other possibilities. Sjögren's syndrome. it is a condition which causes failure of the salivating glands. And also we of course have medications. everyone responds differently so my advise is to half any non life sustaining or important maintenance meds until your visit with your next physician. I must ask have you consulted with an ENT? Ear Nose and throat doctor? if not they may have a more focused perspective on what could be causing your condition. I truly hope my words have helped. Feel free to ask any follow up questions.
