What Causes Dry Mouth?

Question: Yes please. My mouth is always dry. It's weird. My tongue often feels like a cats tongue looks.. Rough and dry. It's not the meds I'm taking. I started taking Xanax BECAUSE I was so miserable.

Brief Answer: ENT consultation and try to find out the cause Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for the query. Dry mouth can be because of many reasons and diabetes is the most common. You are not diabetic I suppose as you have not written it in medical history. The other reasons are drugs, dehydration, autoimmune syndromes, allergy and anxiety. Please see an ENT to rule out any autoimmune disease or any other offending factors. Otherwise, maintain a very good oro dental hygiene and take plenty of fluids. If no cause can be found or some cause which can not be corrected, use of artificial saliva sprays and plenty of fluids helps in solving the problem to some extent. Feel free to ask another query.
