What Causes Dry Red Patches On The Back?

Question: I'm having some spots on my back with little itching almost a week now. One of my friend too had this and he took Zyrtec allergy tablets. From last 3 days im too taking this tablet once in a day. There are no new spots, but have some itching. Dont have fever or any health issues. let me know the prescription for this.

I am Dr.Kakkar (dermatologist). I have gone through your query and i have also reviewed the image.

I can see dry, red, scaly patches on upper back. Seems like eczematous dermatitis.

You may use a moderately potent topical steroid cream e.g Mometasone furoate 0.1% cream (Elocon cream) over this area, 2x daily for 2 weeks. You may also continue with Zyrtec tab. for a week more.

Thank you for your valuable suggestion. I forgot to mention i live in XXXXXXX XXXXXXX and it's getting very colder here now. And this rash started after this weather changes. And Zyrtec should be 5mg or 10mg one.

Zyrtec 10mg. Yes, cold weather can precipitate an eczematous condition in underlying dry skin. Therefore you should also use a moisturiser regularly.
